About this event

The Archbishop Alexander Christie Lecture, inaugurated in 2027, celebrates the partnership between Catholic higher education and the ongoing ministry of the Catholic Church. The lecture is named for Archbishop Alexander Christie, who, together with Provincial Superior Fr. John Zahm, C.S.C.—priest and scientist—co-founded what would become the University of Portland. The lecture explores the enduring value of a partnership between Catholic higher education and the life of the Church today. The Christie Lecture honors University of Portland’s ongoing ministry to be educators in the faith by bringing together campus and community voices that deepen our appreciation for the synergy of higher education and the Catholic Church, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
